LBT & Carrie Underwood

I will start this post by saying I do not love Carrie Underwood. I had originally bought tickets to the show because I do like Little Big Town. I know, many are asking, Who?

LBT are a new group, although they have been around Nashville for many years. They consist of Jimmy, Kimberly, Karen and Phillip. I like to think of them as the Fleetwood Mac of country music. They have amazing harmonies and are great songwriters as well.

I went to the show with my friend Donna from work. We arrived a bit late, due to the 47 minute wait to eat at Chili's...another story! We had amazing seats. 11th row, on the floor, right next to the catwalk. I was amazed at how good LBT sounded live. They are so energetic and fun. The girls are super thin! By then end of their set the crowd was on their feet and singing along. I loved that they sang "Life in a Northern Town".

We waited about 40-45 minutes for CU to start. I do not remember the set list, but she sang for 90 minutes. She changed clothes way to many times for my liking. She started out in a black mini dress with black knee high boots. Then changed into a strapless blue ball gown. After a few songs she took off the long skirt and the blue dress became a mini dress as well. Then into jeans a t shirt and vest. Then later the jeans with a leather jacket. Also, her hair looked like crap! I was wondering if she even combed that mop today!

She has gotten better since the last time we saw her a couple years ago. She still has little stage presence and spends way to much time at the back of her stage on a platform.

During her set LBT came back out and sang "You can go your own way" by Fleetwood Mac. It was fun to see them back on the stage. I was ready for CU to be done by that time.

The highlight had to be when she covered Guns and Roses "Take me down to Paradise City". It was upbeat and full of energy. She went straight into "Before he cheats" and then the show was over. BTW, she never introduced her band, all 8 members of it, including Chad Jeffers. I found that to be rude! Every concert I have ever gone to has introduced every person in their band during the show.

Overall, it was fun. I don't know that "Hairy Underwear" as the boys call her, is my cup of tea. She was well received by the crowd, which was lots of young girls. She is a good singer, but I think she has a long way to go before she achieves the stage show of Keith, Kenny or Brad.

I saw CU when she was touring this spring with KU. No stage presence in my opinion and she NEVER introduced her band. WTH? I saw LBT when they were touring with Martina McBride. They are awesome! I would love to see them again! CU again? No thank you!
