Twilight!!!!!!!

Okay so the brunette mafia talked me into reading the books, but now I can't wait for the movie. I work on Friday 11/21/08, so I have to wait until Saturday. At least Nut has agreed to go with me. He can always use a good nap.

Mad's you'll have to tell me what you think, from a professionals point of view.

Mr. A-Z

Last night we went to see Jason Mraz in concert at the E center. I had never seen him before, but was looking forward to seeing what kind of show he would put on.

After a search for the missing camera (still missing, left it at the recital hall after Carters piano recital) we headed to dinner with mom and dad. It was nice to spend time with them. Eventually we headed over to the E center.

The opening act was BORING! Think Enya, but much more relaxed. YAWN! I always thought the opener was to get the crowd pumped up for the main show. Around 8:40, Mraz took the stage. He was amazing! He was so energetic and charismatic. He had the crowd eating out of his hand within minutes. He played tons of great songs. My only complaint...No "Geek in the Pink"!!!!!! He was able to get the entire audience up and moving towards the middle of the show. It was fun to see him get everyone doing the same hand movements during one song. After 2 encores it was over. Great night.

I can honestly say that Mraz and John Mayer have opened my eyes to a whole new genre...everything except country. Now I'm not saying I'm giving up my boots anytime soon, but it has been fun to listen to new types of music. It's also so different from a headlining country show...no pyro, no big stage entrances. Just great music and fun.

How to lose $3500 in a day

Go to the orthodontist! Today Miles and Taylor had their check up with Dr. Ellison to check about braces. It was never a question of if, but when they would get them. They will each visit him 3 times in the next 3 weeks with the official date of brace face being November 14th.

Also today, Carter had to get a tooth pulled at Dr. Johansen's office. He has 1 tooth that doesn't have a permanent tooth under it. After 2 years in braces, it was finally decided to pull the baby tooth, place a spacer and eventually, when he's stopped growing and has his own dental insurance, to place an implant. Poor kids looked drunk afterwards. The tooth was fused to the bone and both he and Dr. Johansen heard a crack when it finally came out. Afterwards we had to go back to Dr. Ellison's to get his wire fixed. So 3 trips to the orthodontist in 2 days. Whatever!

I guess I'm lucky that I have decent dental insurance. I only have to pay 50% of ortho. Plus, Randy called today to tell me that we have $1500 left in our medical spending account that must be used by the end of the year. Coincidence? I think not!

They call it a test, I call it Torture

For the past 3-4 months I have been complaining about my left ring and pinky fingers being numb. After a referral to an orthopedic surgeon, it was decided that I probably have ulnar nerve compression (kinda like carpal tunnel but a different nerve). The ortho dude sent me for a nerve conduction study, which I had today. I'm pretty sure we use this test to torture prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.

He started by placing wires in different places then giving me electric shocks. OUCH! This went on for about 20-25 minutes. Then he decided that he needed more information so he was going to stick a needle in my muscle and do some more tests. I figured 1 needle, no big deal. WRONG! It was one needle that he stuck in about 6 different places then had me try to move my wrist or fingers a certain way.

Finally he was done. I had survived.

Good News- it's only mild/moderate compression
Bad News- Conservative treatment means wearing a brace on my left arm all day and night to keep it straight. Or I can have surgery to decompress the nerve.

So, it's offical....I'M OLD.

You Suck Crapids!

Real Salt Lake is sooooo close to clinching our first ever playoff spot. Thanks to the Colorado Rapids win yesterday, we have to either tie or win in CO next Saturday. I have total faith that we can get the job done.

I think I may have lost my husband for the weekend. He's trying to make arrangements to travel to CO for the game. He can't miss any of the action!

A well needed KU fix!

The countdown to November 11th...aka Christmas for mama!

Also Keith is now featured on a new wii game. I may have to actually learn how to use that darn machine

Carters New Do

The day has finally come. Carter has gotten a hair cut. Since I last spoke of Cart's mop, he has grown it longer and dyed it black. The black is much better than the fushia/red it was before.

Here are the before and after.

It's still a bit long, but much better than it was. I took this rare opportunity alone with my moody teenager to discuss the fact the he better never come home with anything pierced on or near his face. We went on to discuss tattoo's and the legal age in Utah. His dad will be so happy....NOT.

Weekend Update

I realize it's only Saturday, but since I'm expected back to the pelvic palace tomorrow, I figured I would update today.

1. Rio Tinto Stadium
IT WAS AUSSOME! The stadium is so nice and even though there were a few mishaps, the night was great. We gave Erik our extra ticket and it was fun to spend some time with him. We met our new neighbors for the next season. Dora and her husband seem nice, and their youngest son was a crack up. We taught him all about the usual goalie harassing call, the blind ref chant, and the ambulance taunt. I can't say as much about the weather. As usual, we had the entire week of fall and have crept straight to winter. Time for the depression to set in. We tied 1-1, which kinda sucked.

2. The bodies exhibit was so cool! I met the brunette mafia, and our newest member Jen at the Leonardo. We got out tickets and went to lunch across the street. I was concerned that I would be freaked out by the exhibit, but the only thing that bothered me was their eyes! I finally had to ask someone if they were real. I'm happy to report that everything is real except the pupil and iris. Evidentally, once they plastinate someone the eyes get cloudy...DUH! It's amazing to me that those bodies are real, for one thing, but that they are not held in pose by any wires at all. It was minutely creepy, but uber interesting.

3. The first concert was announced for our new stadium, none other than the Turtle! Kenny Chesney will be live at Rio Tinto Stadium, July 23rd. WOOHOO! I must be desperate for entertainment, because the brunette mafia and I are already making plans. The good news is that there are rumors about Brad Paisley going on the road with him next summer. It seems like forever since i've seen any live music. Jason Mraz is up next, but not til the end of the month.

Bodies?!?!?!

So I have a hot date downtown tomorrow for the Bodies exhibit. I have been wanting to see this forever. Some people may think that it's creepy, but I think it will be totally interesting. I don't think cameras are allowed, but I may take it just in case. I'm sure Randy will be wanting to hear all about it. NOT! I'll post more tomorrow.

McCain vs. Obama...Aren't we forgetting someone?

Loves it......

Disney for your B-day!

Somehow, someway, I will make this happen. My boys may be kicking and screaming that Disney is for babies, but I want to go sooooo bad! Plus when you consider that 3 of us have the same birthday, it's a bargain!

I found this picture and I think it sums up my night perfectly....

Some great shows hitting the road!

OMG! I'm totally holding my breath for some of the great tours to come to SLC.

Best tour's this fall/winter...

1. Brad Paisley, Dierks Bentley and Hootie!
I will be so sad if they don't come to SLC. So far the last show on the tour page is in Yakima WA. Seriously we are so freakin close. I may have to travel if Nut will allow it.

2. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton
I have grown to love Ran. She is totally kick ass and makes me feel tough and ready to rumble. As for Blake, he cracks me up. I was a bit disappointed when we saw him in Wendover, but I think given the right venue he could be aussome.

3. Jason Aldean and Lady A.
I know I won't have to struggle find a buddy for this show. I'm sure Julee will be all over it if they come. Jason puts on a great show and I was totally bummed to miss him open for Tim McGraw this summer.

4. Rascal Flatts and Chestica Romo
I know Tate will want to go see them this year, but I may have to make Nut take his turn on this one. I'm sure I can't stand to be in the same building will her and her terrible voice. Can her country stay be over already?

5. Word on the street is that Keith will hit the road in the spring. It's been almost a year since Girls Weekend in Nashville to see him. I am in serious need of getting my KU fix.

Maybe if I beg and plead they will all make a stop in the SLC.
